

Geography KS3
Geography is studied by all students in year 7, 8 and 9 following the KS3 National Curriculum. Geography teaching offers opportunities to:
The units of study in Year 7 are Map Skills, Global Population, Settlement, Plate Tectonics, Rivers and Floods.
In Year 8 Atlas Skills, Europe, Coasts, Weather and Climate, Brazil and Tropical Rainforest.
Finally in Year 9, Tourism, Globalisation, Development, Rocks and the Landscape, Glaciation and China.
Geography programmes of study support Citizenship and the Literacy and the Numeracy strategies.
A variety and teaching and learning strategies are employed and the use of ICT.
KS3 National Curriculum Geography is not assessed externally; all students in years 7, 8 and 9 are working towards end of term evaluations and a final global exam. These allow progress to be monitored across the key stage.
