
Music at St. Anne’s School
In Key Stage 3 we try to build on and consolidate the learning which has taken place in Key Stage 2 as well as introducing pupils to more complex and challenging musical ideas and experiences.
Pupils undertake, as far as possible, the National Curriculum programmes of study during Years 7, 8 and 9, as well as taking part in musical productions and concerts at least twice during the year. Pupils are also taken to concerts of live music to support their learning and to widen their musical knowledge.

Year 9
5 and 7 Time Exploring unusual time signatures
Ground Bass Variations Old and new examples of ground bass forms
Vocal Chants Further exploration of vocal techniques
Samba Batucada Making music in unusual ways
What is a motif? Identifying musical ideas
Gospel Roots and influences of modern pop and rock
Pupils continue their study of classroom instruments including the recorder and use their skills to support their learning throughout the above units.
